03 / Operating approach
Delegation is a step.
Operation is a loop.
A method for making agent-led work bounded, reviewable and continuous. The following describes design principles, not a record of engagements or deployed capabilities.
01 / Map the function before the task.
Start with a function’s purpose, inputs, dependencies and limits. Name the decisions an agent may make and the decisions it must return for review.
Support
Classify requests and draft responses. Escalate sensitive requests, uncertain answers and changes to commitments.
Research
Gather and compare sources. Return supporting evidence, gaps and uncertainty for review.
Operations
Coordinate recurring work and check dependencies. Pause when the operating context changes.
Finance
Prepare reconciliations and analysis. Keep movement of funds and binding decisions behind explicit approval.
Engineering
Prepare changes and run checks in bounded environments. Require review before consequential releases.
Sales
Organise research and prepare communication drafts. Require approval for outreach and commercial commitments.
02 / Orchestrate the return, not just the start.
A work order should include its objective, permitted tools, completion conditions and a return path. The orchestration layer receives results and exceptions, updates shared context, and decides whether to continue, revise or pause the work.
Continuous operation means maintaining this feedback loop. It does not mean unrestricted autonomy or uninterrupted execution.
03 / Put people at consequential decisions.
Define review points around external commitments, financial actions, access changes, sensitive data and material uncertainty. Give the reviewer the proposed action, supporting evidence, relevant context and a way to reject or revise it.
Use the least authority needed for the work. Do not let the same agent silently expand its own permissions or remove a review requirement.
04 / Make failure a defined path.
- Stop and preserve context. When a check fails or authority is unclear, pause the affected work and retain the information needed to understand the failure.
- Return a structured exception.Identify the attempted action, observed result, uncertainty and possible next steps. Route it to an accountable human reviewer.
- Resume deliberately.Revise the work order, change the scope or end the task. Retries should be bounded; unresolved failures should not trigger an unending loop.
